On Sunday, 14th September, something special happened in North Lakes, Queensland. Sandra and Brendan – franchise partners for the North Lakes Success Tutoring centre – demonstrated exactly what Success Tutoring is all about: community, connection, and impact.
This wasn’t just another weekend event. This was a moment that showcased how a tutoring centre can become a true hub for the local community. To mark the occasion, our Head of Global Partnerships, Allan, flew from Melbourne to support Sandra and Brendan in deepening their partnerships and strengthening the presence of Success Tutoring in the area.
From Sponsorship to Partnership
Brendan and Sandra have been actively building relationships within the local North Lakes community since opening their centre. They’ve trialled several sponsorships with local sporting clubs, but one in particular – North Lakes United Football Club – has become much more than a sponsorship.
What began as a simple “bronze sponsor” fence sign has grown into a meaningful collaboration. The connection is personal: one of the centre’s tutors is the daughter of a committee member at the club. This relationship opened the door to real, heartfelt conversations between the club and the centre.
And these weren’t just talks about money or advertising. They were conversations about raising children holistically – about teaching young people integrity, resilience, compassion, and balance. The club’s values perfectly align with the values that drive Success Tutoring: inspiring, motivating, and uplifting the next generation.
The Student-Athlete Concept
North Lakes United is the largest club in South East Queensland, with 1,700 members and 400 academy players, including a strong women’s program. Many players spend long hours at the club, often waiting for their turn to train. Brendan and Sandra saw an opportunity:
Why not support these players in maintaining their learning while they wait?
From this question was born the “student-athlete” concept – a vision to help young people become confident in all areas of life: academics, sport, and community. It’s about creating balance, teaching them not to sacrifice learning for sport or sport for learning.
Sandra and Brendan’s goal is to integrate tutoring into the fabric of the club’s activities, making it a place where kids grow stronger both mentally and physically.
A Big Day for the Community
Yesterday’s Presentation & Community Day brought this vision to life. The theme was Y.E.S. (Youth – Education – Support):
Y – Youth: Represented by Beyond Blue, who will soon be running sessions with students about managing stress and anxiety ahead of major school exams.
E – Education: Powered by Success Tutoring, showcasing what tutoring can do to inspire confidence and academic success.
S – Support: St Vincent de Paul’s led an effort that collected around 600 bags of second-hand clothing on the day, plus another 300 off-site, to support those in need.
The event was attended by local MPs, councillors, and community leaders, creating a powerful show of support for this collaboration.
Brendan, Sandra, and their team had the opportunity to meet dozens of families and children, introduce them to the tutors, and share what Success Tutoring stands for. This wasn’t just brand visibility – this was endorsement by the very people running the community.

A Model for the Future
This partnership is set to go deeper over the coming months, with Success Tutoring becoming integrated into club events, fees, and initiatives. The committee members made it clear:
“We want the players to grow up in a real community where they are taken care of, and they learn to take care of others.”
This is exactly the type of partnership that Success Tutoring seeks to replicate across Queensland and, eventually, Australia.
Why This Matters for Franchise Partners
For franchise partners, the story of North Lakes is a powerful case study:
Community Partnerships Drive Growth: Sponsorships can turn into relationships – and relationships can turn into strong, sustainable enrolments.
Shared Values Matter: When you find local organisations that share your vision of inspiring and uplifting young people, the partnership feels natural.
Brand Presence Becomes Brand Trust: Being present at events, endorsed by local leaders, builds instant credibility.
Replicable Model: This approach isn’t unique to North Lakes. With support from HQ, it can be duplicated in sporting clubs, schools, and community groups across Australia.

Brendan and Sandra’s success is not just about running a tutoring centre – it’s about becoming an integral part of the community’s ecosystem. When your business is built on inspiring and motivating students, partnerships like these amplify the impact.
This is what makes Success Tutoring different: we’re not just a business – we’re a movement. And for the right franchise partners, this is a chance to lead that movement in your own community.
