On Saturday 16 May 2026, Success Tutoring opened its doors in Mount Gravatt East, Brisbane. The centre opened with 50+ foundation members already signed on, giving the new location membership-based recurring revenue from day one.
The launch drew a strong local crowd. Families and community members filled the new centre, joined by Corrine McMillan, Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Success Tutoring Founder and Global CEO Michael Black also flew in to mark the occasion.
A Strong Community Turnout
Mount Gravatt East is an established, family-dense suburb in Brisbane's south, with a strong base of local families and a community that supports local businesses. Opening day drew a steady turnout, with families filling the new centre throughout the day.
Highlights from the day:
- Opening speeches from the franchise partner and guests
- Face painting and family-friendly activities throughout the day
- Attended by Corrine McMillan, Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly
- Founder & Global CEO Michael Black on hand to launch the centre
Practice is everything, whether it's running, learning or life. I want to help students build confidence, discipline and real skills that will stay with them forever

Meet the Franchise Partner: Thomas Ang
Thomas Ang's background is worth a moment. Originally from Malaysia, Thomas moved to Australia to study engineering at the University of Sydney, but it was Brisbane where he built his life, met his wife and raised his two children. Turning 50 this year, he came to Success Tutoring after a serious health scare three years ago prompted him to reassess his health, his family and how he spends his time.
His response was discipline. Never a runner, he started showing up every day, building endurance distance by distance. He is now training for the Brisbane Marathon, something he once thought out of reach. He brings that same approach of steady, consistent practice to the centre. He chose a business that, in his words, 'aligned with my values' and organised the launch with the same care he brings to his training.

50+ Members From Day One
Here is why that day-one number is worth noting. Success Tutoring runs on a membership model, so a centre earns recurring revenue from the members it signs rather than depending on one-off transactions. Opening with 50+ foundation members means Mount Gravatt East began with an established base of recurring membership revenue rather than building one slowly from zero. Early results vary from location to location, but a strong foundation cohort gives a new centre early momentum going into its first months.
Fifty-plus families signing on before opening points to genuine local demand, supported by Success Tutoring's marketing systems that build interest ahead of launch and the partner's effort on the ground. The central systems handle much of the marketing and operations, while the partner recognises the opportunity and runs the local playbook.
Thomas represents exactly what Success Tutoring is about: resilience, discipline and a commitment to improving every single day

Why This Is Worth a Closer Look
Mount Gravatt East is one example of the Success Tutoring flywheel. The model is built around recurring membership revenue rather than one-off, transactional income. Centralised systems and SuccessAcademy handle marketing, curriculum, training and operations, so a first-time owner is not inventing the business from scratch. And a repeatable playbook, refined opening after opening, can lower the execution risk that comes with starting an independent business. It reflects the Success Tutoring idea of purpose with profit: helping local students alongside a business model that is built to scale.
The Bigger Picture
Every new centre adds to the network. Success Tutoring's ambition is to become the 'McDonald's of tutoring', a consistent, systemised brand with locations across the globe. Each opening like Mount Gravatt East adds brand recognition, data and momentum that the next partner can build on.
