Private lessons have been part of school life in Kuwait for decades. Families routinely pay for a teacher to come to the home before exams, and many students take lessons in several subjects at once. A tutoring franchise in Kuwait City would offer those families a different model: a structured, membership-based English and Maths programme in a centre parents can visit and trust.
Success Tutoring has no centre in Kuwait yet. We are looking for franchise partners in the Kuwait City area and for a master franchise partner to develop the brand nationally. Territories are drawn with partners around the governorates and neighbourhoods they know.
Kuwait's school system
The Ministry of Education runs government schools and oversees private education through its private education department. Most Kuwaiti children attend government schools, which teach in Arabic, with English taught as a subject. The final secondary results determine admission to Kuwait University and the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, and eligibility for government scholarships to study abroad.
Kuwait's private sector is large and varied:
- Arabic private schools, following the Ministry curriculum.
- Bilingual schools, teaching a mix of Arabic and English.
- British curriculum schools, through to IGCSE and A-level.
- American curriculum schools, with AP courses and SAT preparation.
- Indian curriculum schools, mostly CBSE, serving the large Indian community.
- IB and other national curricula, including Pakistani, Filipino and French schools.
A growing number of Kuwaiti families choose English-medium private schools, which adds a new layer of demand for academic English support.
Why Kuwaiti families pay for lessons
Several features of the market drive demand:
- High-stakes secondary results. Grades decide university places and scholarship eligibility, and families start private lessons early.
- The move to English-medium schooling. Children who speak Arabic at home and learn in English often need support with reading, writing and maths vocabulary.
- Expatriate families who move between curricula and countries, and need to close gaps.
- A strong culture of private lessons, mostly delivered informally by individual teachers.
Kuwaiti authorities have periodically moved against unlicensed private tutoring and advertising by unlicensed tutors. That makes a licensed, branded centre with trained tutors, a clear programme and regular progress reports more attractive to careful parents.
Where families live around Kuwait City
Most of Kuwait's population lives in the metropolitan area spreading south and west from the capital. Areas with potential include:
- Hawalli governorate, including Salmiya, Jabriya, Rumaithiya, Salwa and Mishref, dense residential areas with many private schools.
- Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorate, including Sabah Al-Salem, Adan, Qurain and Mubarak Al-Kabeer itself, with many Kuwaiti families.
- Farwaniya governorate, including Khaitan, Abdullah Al-Mubarak and Ardiya, among the most populous parts of the country.
- Capital governorate suburbs such as Shuwaikh, Yarmouk, Qadsiya and Kaifan.
- Ahmadi governorate, including Fintas, Mangaf, Fahaheel and Abu Halifa, along the southern coast.
- New housing cities such as South Saad Al-Abdullah and Sabah Al-Ahmad, where young Kuwaiti families are moving.
Territories across the governorates would be set with each partner using population, schools and existing tutoring, and each would have a single owner.
Partnering with Success Tutoring
Success Tutoring is an Australian franchise, founded in Sydney in 2017 and operating centres across Australia. Its offer to Kuwaiti parents is a visible, accountable alternative to informal home lessons: a centre with set weekly sessions, a written curriculum and regular progress reports, run by a local partner.
Support for a partner in Kuwait may include the Success Kit and operating system; help finding and fitting out premises, for example in a co-operative society complex or a busy commercial street; tutor recruitment and online training; learning resources and a structured program; and help planning local marketing before and after opening. Ongoing support is provided by head office, within the terms of the franchise agreement and disclosure documents.
You do not need a teaching background. Partners run the business, build trust with families and lead a team of trained tutors.
Frequently asked questions
Does a tutoring centre in Kuwait need a licence?
Yes. Educational centres generally need approval from the Ministry of Education's private education department as well as a commercial licence. Requirements change, so confirm them before signing a lease.
Can foreigners own a franchise business in Kuwait?
Ownership rules depend on the company structure and any investment licence. Many foreign franchise brands in Kuwait operate through local partners. Seek independent legal advice.
Is there a franchise law in Kuwait?
Kuwait does not have a standalone franchise disclosure law. Franchise agreements are governed by general commercial and civil law, and commercial agency rules may apply. Seek independent legal advice in Kuwait before signing.
Is Success Tutoring offering a master franchise for Kuwait?
We are open to conversations with experienced operators about a master franchise for Kuwait, as well as with partners for individual territories.
