Karachi is Pakistan's largest city and its commercial capital, and it has the country's most varied school landscape. A single street in Gulshan-e-Iqbal or North Nazimabad might hold a government school, a low-fee private school, a branch of a national school chain and a tuition academy that fills up as soon as school finishes. For anyone considering a tutoring franchise in Karachi, the demand is obvious. The question is how to offer something more reliable than the academy built around one star teacher.

Success Tutoring has no centres in Pakistan. It is seeking franchise partners in Karachi, and a master franchise partner for the country, with territories drawn together with partners.

Boards, Cambridge and entry tests

Education is a provincial responsibility in Pakistan, and Karachi follows the Sindh school system. Students on the matriculation route sit:

  • Secondary School Certificate (matric) examinations in classes 9 and 10, set in Karachi by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi.
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate (Intermediate) examinations in classes 11 and 12, set by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, with students choosing pre-medical, pre-engineering, commerce, computer science or humanities groups.

The Aga Khan University Examination Board, a federal board based in Karachi, offers an alternative SSC and HSSC route used by many private schools.

Karachi also has one of the largest Cambridge school sectors in the country. Long-established schools and national chains prepare students for O Levels and A Levels, and their families are focused on grades for admission to universities in Pakistan and abroad.

On top of school exams sit entry tests: the MDCAT for medical and dental colleges, and admission tests for engineering and business schools such as NED University and IBA Karachi. Marks feed merit lists, so small differences in matric and Intermediate results can change a student's options.

Why Karachi families invest in tuition

  • The academy habit. From middle school onwards, many students attend evening academies for Maths, English and science. Families already budget for it.
  • Two systems, one city. A child moving between a board school and a Cambridge school, or from Urdu-medium to English-medium teaching, often needs help closing gaps in English and Mathematics.
  • English as a filter. English matters for O Level results, university interviews and private sector jobs. Parents across income levels see it as the subject that opens doors.
  • Quality concerns. The Annual Status of Education Report has repeatedly found many children working below grade level in reading and arithmetic. Parents want structured help that builds foundations, not just exam-season cramming.

Many academies in Karachi are informal, run around individual teachers, with little reporting to parents. A membership-based centre with a consistent K–12 programme, trained tutors and regular progress updates fills a different need.

Where a Karachi centre could work

The territory map for Pakistan has not been drawn. Territories would be planned with each partner, and areas worth discussing include:

  • DHA and Clifton, high-income neighbourhoods with many Cambridge schools.
  • PECHS, Bahadurabad and Tariq Road, established central areas with strong family demand.
  • Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar, large middle-class districts with schools on almost every block.
  • North Nazimabad and Federal B Area, dense residential districts in the north of the city.
  • Scheme 33 and the Super Highway corridor, including newer housing societies such as Bahria Town Karachi.
  • Malir and Korangi, large eastern communities with many young families.

Karachi traffic means families want a centre close to home or school, which is why territories are drawn around real catchments.

The Success Tutoring model

Success Tutoring was founded in Sydney in 2017 and franchises bright, retail-style centres where school-age children attend weekly sessions on a membership. Unlike a subject academy, the programme is intended to work on skills steadily from the primary years. Support for a Karachi partner may include the Success Kit and systems, help finding and fitting out premises, tutor recruitment with online training, learning resources and a structured program, and launch and marketing support, with ongoing help from head office. In Karachi the franchise agreement, together with the information we share before signing, defines that support.

You do not need to have taught. For Pakistan, a master franchise partner would also plan territories across the country and recruit partners for each city.

Frequently asked questions

How is a Success Tutoring centre different from a Karachi academy?

Most academies teach large groups by subject, often around one teacher. Success Tutoring uses regular weekly sessions on a membership basis, a structured programme, trained tutors and progress tracking, so the centre is not built around a single teacher.

Would the programme suit both board and Cambridge students?

It can. Sessions are built around each student's level, and a partner would work with head office on how they relate to Sindh board, AKU-EB and Cambridge expectations.

What legal framework applies to franchising in Pakistan?

Pakistan has no franchise-specific law or mandatory disclosure regime, so agreements rely on contract, company and intellectual property law. Companies register with the SECP, and royalty payments abroad raise tax and foreign exchange questions. Seek independent legal advice before signing.

Could I open centres in more than one part of Karachi?

Karachi is large enough for several territories. Multi-unit and master franchise options are discussed with head office.
