Abu Dhabi has a different rhythm from Dubai. More of its residents are Emirati families and long-term expatriates, its suburbs are spread across the mainland and the islands, and its schools answer to a separate regulator. For anyone researching a tutoring franchise in Abu Dhabi, those differences shape where a centre should go and who it will serve.

Success Tutoring has no centre in Abu Dhabi today. We are looking for franchise partners to open the first ones, and we talk with experienced operators about master franchise rights for the UAE. Territories here are drawn together with each partner, so the map reflects real catchments rather than lines on a page.

ADEK and the Abu Dhabi school system

Schooling in the emirate is overseen by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). ADEK regulates private schools, sets policy for charter schools, and runs the Irtiqaa inspection programme, which gives each private school a performance rating that parents use when choosing between schools.

The private sector teaches a wide spread of curricula: British (IGCSE and A-level), American (with AP and SAT preparation), International Baccalaureate, Indian (mostly CBSE) and the UAE Ministry of Education curriculum. Emirati students are split between government schools, charter schools run by private operators under ADEK agreements, and private schools.

ADEK has also put a strong emphasis on Arabic, Islamic studies and UAE social studies, and on measuring student progress through international assessments. For families, that means English and Maths are assessed alongside a heavy Arabic-language load, and many children need targeted help in one area while the timetable fills up with others.

What drives tutoring in the capital

Three groups of families create steady demand for after-school English and Maths in Abu Dhabi:

  • Emirati families whose children study in English-medium private or charter schools, and who want support with academic English, reading comprehension and written work.
  • Expatriate families who have moved from another country or curriculum and need to close gaps quickly, often in maths sequencing or writing.
  • Senior students heading towards IGCSE, A-level, IB Diploma, AP or CBSE Class 12 results, which feed directly into university admission in the UAE and abroad.

Many households also have two working parents and long commutes between the islands and the mainland. A reliable weekly session close to home, in a centre parents can see and trust, suits that routine better than ad hoc private lessons.

Where families live in Abu Dhabi

The capital's family population has moved steadily off the main island. Areas with strong potential for a retail-style tutoring centre include:

  • Khalifa City and Mohammed Bin Zayed City, large suburban districts with many schools and young families.
  • Al Reem Island, Al Raha Beach and Yas Island, where newer apartment and villa communities have grown quickly.
  • Saadiyat Island, home to premium international schools and new residential projects.
  • Shakhbout City, Al Shamkha and Al Falah, newer communities where many Emirati families have settled.
  • Mussafah and Bani Yas, with dense populations of working families and growing school provision.

The territory map on this page will fill in as partners sign on. Territory boundaries in the capital are worked out with each partner from resident numbers, children aged 5 to 17, nearby schools and existing providers, and no two partners share one.

Building a Success Tutoring centre in Abu Dhabi

Success Tutoring grew out of a spare bedroom in Western Sydney in 2017 and now franchises learning centres across Australia. An Abu Dhabi partner would take that system and apply it to a city where families drive to everything, which makes the choice of site, parking and visibility especially important. Our team helps with site selection, leasing and fit-out of a retail-style centre, so that it suits a mall-adjacent strip or a community retail precinct in Khalifa City as much as a podium on Reem.

Beyond the shopfront, support can extend to tutor recruitment and training through our online platform, learning resources and a structured program, and help planning local marketing around the opening of the centre. Partners also have ongoing support from the Success Tutoring team. The precise scope of that support is set out in the franchise agreement and disclosure documents.

Teaching qualifications are not required. The partner's job is to run the business, build relationships with local schools and parents, and lead a team of trained tutors.

Frequently asked questions

Who regulates tutoring centres in Abu Dhabi?

ADEK is the education regulator for the emirate, and a tutoring business will also need the right commercial licence. Licensing requirements can change, so check them with ADEK and the relevant licensing authority before signing a lease.

Is Abu Dhabi a separate market from Dubai?

Yes. The two emirates have different regulators (ADEK and KHDA), different inspection frameworks and different family profiles. A partner can focus on one emirate, and a master franchise partner would plan across the UAE.

Can a centre support students in charter and government schools?

Potentially, yes. Success Tutoring centres work with school-age students on core skills that matter whether a child attends a private, charter or government school, and a partner would plan the local student mix with our team.

What legal framework applies to franchises in the UAE?

There is no dedicated federal franchise disclosure law. Agreements fall under general civil and commercial law, and commercial agency rules may be relevant. Seek independent legal advice in the UAE before you sign.
