Tutoring Franchise Dublin

Ask any Dublin parent about grinds and you will get an opinion. Paying for extra tuition, especially in the senior cycle, is a normal part of Irish secondary school, and Dublin has the country's largest concentration of grind schools and private tutors. A tutoring franchise in Dublin would offer something the grinds market mostly lacks: a structured, year-round programme in English and Maths that starts in primary school rather than in Leaving Cert year.
Success Tutoring does not have a centre in Ireland yet. We are looking for franchise partners in Dublin, and for a master franchise partner to grow the brand across Ireland. Territories are drawn with partners, so the map on this page fills in as partners join.
How Irish schooling works
Education in Ireland is overseen by the Department of Education, with curriculum developed by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) and exams run by the State Examinations Commission (SEC). Children move through:
- Primary school, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, where a new primary curriculum framework is being introduced, including changes to maths.
- The Junior Cycle (First to Third Year), which replaced the old Junior Certificate. Students complete classroom-based assessments and sit state exams, and receive a Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
- Transition Year, optional in most schools.
- The Senior Cycle, leading to the Leaving Certificate. Results are converted into CAO points, up to 625, which decide entry to university courses.
The senior cycle is being redeveloped, with new subject specifications and more assessment outside the final written exam being phased in. Parents of current secondary students are watching those changes closely.
Most Irish schools are state-funded but have religious or community patrons. Dublin also has fee-paying secondary schools, Gaelscoileanna teaching through Irish, Educate Together multi-denominational schools, and DEIS schools supported for educational disadvantage.
Why Dublin families pay for grinds
The CAO points system is the biggest driver. Points required for courses such as medicine, law, pharmacy and many STEM degrees are high and rise and fall with demand, so a few extra points can decide a place. Higher Level Maths carries bonus points, and many students take grinds to secure it.
That pressure filters down. Parents increasingly want their children to have strong maths and English foundations before they reach the Junior Cycle, rather than paying for intensive grinds at the end. A membership-based programme with regular weekly sessions suits families who want steady progress over crisis tutoring.
Dublin's population has also become much more international. Census 2022 showed a large share of Dublin residents were born outside Ireland, and many children speak another language at home. Some families also need help with Irish, but English and Maths remain the core needs.
Where the opportunity is in Dublin
Dublin's growth has pushed young families out from the city centre into new and expanding suburbs:
- Fingal, including Swords, Malahide, Donabate, Balbriggan and the Clongriffin and Belmayne areas.
- South Dublin, including Tallaght, Lucan, Clondalkin, Adamstown and Citywest, where large new housing schemes have been built.
- Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, including Dundrum, Stillorgan, Sandyford and the new Cherrywood development.
- North-west Dublin, including Blanchardstown, Castleknock, Ongar and Clonee on the Meath border.
- The commuter belt in Kildare, Meath and Wicklow, where many Dublin families have moved.
Territories are agreed with each partner using population, schools and the grinds and tuition providers already nearby, and each has a single holder.
What a Success Tutoring partner receives
Success Tutoring was founded in Sydney in 2017 and franchises centres across Australia, and it has announced markets in New Zealand, the US, Canada, Singapore and the UK. Ireland would be new, and how the programme fits Irish class names and school stages would be worked through with the partner.
Support for Dublin partners may include the Success Kit and operating system, help securing and fitting out a centre in a suburban village or shopping centre, tutor recruitment and online training, learning resources and a structured program, and launch and marketing support for opening a new centre. Partners also have ongoing support from head office. Under Irish practice, as anywhere, the franchise agreement and disclosure documents are where that support is defined.
No teaching background is needed. Many partners come from corporate, finance and small-business careers.
Frequently asked questions
Is there franchise legislation in Ireland?
Ireland has no franchise-specific legislation. Franchise agreements are governed by contract, competition and consumer law, and the Irish Franchise Association has a code of ethics for members. Seek independent legal advice in Ireland before signing.
How is Success Tutoring different from a grind school?
Grind schools focus mostly on the Leaving Cert. Success Tutoring is a membership programme for students from the early primary years through to the end of secondary school, with regular weekly sessions throughout the school year.
Will tutors need Garda vetting?
Anyone working with children in Ireland needs to be vetted through the National Vetting Bureau. Partners would build this into tutor recruitment, alongside Success Tutoring's training.
Is Success Tutoring seeking a master franchise partner for Ireland?
Yes. We are open to conversations with experienced operators about developing the brand across Ireland, as well as with partners for single Dublin territories.
