Dammam, Al Khobar and Dhahran have grown together into one metropolitan area on Saudi Arabia's Gulf coast. It is the heart of the Kingdom's energy industry, home to Saudi Aramco's headquarters in Dhahran and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and linked to Bahrain by the King Fahd Causeway. For anyone considering a tutoring franchise in Dammam and Khobar, the area offers a rare concentration of engineers and technical professionals who place a high value on Mathematics and English.

Success Tutoring does not have a centre in the Eastern Province. It is seeking franchise partners here, and a master franchise partner for Saudi Arabia, with territories drawn together with partners.

Education in the Eastern Province

Schools follow the Ministry of Education's national curriculum, overseen locally by the Eastern Province education administration. Under Vision 2030, government schools have taught English from Grade 1 since 2021–2022, and the curriculum has placed more emphasis on foundational skills and measured outcomes.

The Eastern Province also has a well-developed private and international sector, shaped by decades of expatriate employment in the energy industry. British, American, IB and Indian curriculum schools serve families in Khobar and Dhahran, while private Saudi schools teach the national curriculum with stronger English.

As elsewhere in the Kingdom, Etec runs the assessments that matter most:

  • Nafes national tests in the primary and intermediate grades.
  • Qudurat, the General Aptitude Test.
  • Tahsili, the Scholastic Achievement Test in maths and science.

KFUPM, one of the most selective universities in the region, and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam both admit on a combination of school grades and test scores. Engineering programmes and industry scholarships are fiercely contested.

Why tutoring demand is strong here

An engineering culture. Many parents work in energy, petrochemicals and related industries. They know what strong Maths makes possible and they notice early when a child falls behind.

Scholarship competition. Industry and university scholarships reward high Tahsili and Qudurat scores and strong English, which pushes families to invest from the intermediate years.

Expatriate and returning families. Children who move between countries, curricula or school systems often need help with gaps in Mathematics and academic writing.

English in the workplace. English is the everyday language of the energy sector and its suppliers, so families see it as essential, not optional.

Where to look

Territories in Saudi Arabia have not yet been drawn. Areas a partner might explore with head office include:

  • Al Khobar's family districts, such as Al Aqrabiyah, Al Rakah, Al Hizam Al Akhdar and Al Ulaya.
  • Dhahran, including the areas around KFUPM and Doha (Ad Dawhah) on the coast.
  • North and west Dammam, including Al Faisaliyah, Al Shulah and Al Nur, where new housing is growing quickly.
  • Central Dammam, including Al Mazruiyah and Al Adamah, established districts with many schools.
  • Qatif, Saihat and Tarout to the north, large communities with strong demand for education.

The area is spread out and car-dependent, so territories are drawn around real travel catchments rather than municipal boundaries.

Running a Success Tutoring centre in the Eastern Province

An Eastern Province partner would open a retail-style centre where students enrol as members for weekly lessons. Head office support can cover the site search and fit-out, tutor recruitment and online training, learning resources and a structured program, and launch and marketing support around opening. Under the Saudi Franchise Law, the disclosure document and franchise agreement would set out that support.

The brand was founded in Sydney in 2017, and many of its partners come from engineering, corporate and finance backgrounds rather than teaching, so a career in the energy sector is a natural starting point.

Frequently asked questions

Would one partner cover Dammam, Khobar and Dhahran?

Not necessarily. The three cities are close but have distinct neighbourhoods and travel patterns. Territories are drawn around catchments of families, and a partner can discuss one or more with head office.

What rules apply to buying a franchise in Saudi Arabia?

The Kingdom is one of the few Gulf states with its own Franchise Law. Disclosure must reach you two weeks before you sign or pay anything, the agreement has to be registered, and the centre itself will need commercial registration and an education licence. Seek independent legal advice from a Saudi-qualified lawyer.

Does the programme suit international school students?

It can. Sessions work from each student's level, which is intended to suit students in the national curriculum as well as British, American, IB or Indian schools.
