Riyadh is the capital of Saudi Arabia and the focus of much of the Kingdom's transformation under Vision 2030. New districts are spreading north, multinational companies are setting up regional headquarters, and the Riyadh Metro, which began opening in late 2024, is changing how families move across the city. For anyone considering a tutoring franchise in Riyadh, that growth sits on top of something constant: Saudi families care deeply about school results and university entry.
Success Tutoring does not yet operate in Saudi Arabia. It is seeking franchise partners in Riyadh, and a master franchise partner for the Kingdom, with territories drawn together with partners.
Education in the capital
The Ministry of Education sets the national curriculum for government and private Saudi schools. Vision 2030 and its Human Capability Development Program have brought significant changes, including a stronger focus on foundational skills, more measurement of outcomes and a larger role for private provision. One visible reform: English has been taught from Grade 1 in government schools since the 2021–2022 school year, according to the Ministry, where it previously started in Grade 6.
Assessment is run by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (Etec):
- Nafes, the national assessment of student learning in primary and intermediate grades.
- Qudurat (the General Aptitude Test), measuring verbal and quantitative reasoning.
- Tahsili (the Scholastic Achievement Test), covering mathematics and the sciences learned in secondary school.
University admission combines secondary school grades with Qudurat and Tahsili scores, so the tests carry real weight for every family aiming at King Saud University, Princess Nourah University, Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud University or scholarships abroad.
Riyadh also has the Kingdom's largest private and international school sector, with British, American, IB and other curricula serving Saudi and expatriate families.
Why Riyadh families invest in tutoring
- Qudurat and Tahsili. Both tests reward mathematical reasoning built over years. A weak foundation is hard to fix in the final year, so families look for support from the intermediate grades.
- English in the early grades. With English now part of school from Grade 1, many parents who did not learn English early want help supporting their children.
- A growing professional population. Saudi and expatriate professionals drawn by new jobs and regional headquarters are used to paying for structured academic support.
- Regulated tutoring. The Ministry has allowed teachers to give regulated private lessons, which shows the authorities see supplementary learning as a permanent part of the system and raises expectations of quality.
Where Riyadh is growing
Territories in Saudi Arabia have not been drawn yet. Areas a Riyadh partner might discuss with head office include:
- North Riyadh, including Al Malqa, Hittin, Al Yasmin, Al Narjis and Al Arid, where new villas, compounds and schools are filling with young families.
- Al Sahafa, Al Aqiq and the area around the King Abdullah Financial District, close to major employers.
- East Riyadh, including Al Rawdah, Al Nahdah and Al Rimal, large established and expanding family districts.
- West Riyadh, including Dhahrat Laban and Tuwaiq, growing residential areas.
- The Diplomatic Quarter and Al Olaya, with international families and central schools.
- South Riyadh and Al Suwaidi, densely populated areas with many school-age children.
Riyadh is a car city with long distances, so territories are drawn around real travel catchments and the new metro lines.
What a Riyadh partner would run
Founded in Sydney in 2017, Success Tutoring franchises learning centres that look and feel like a modern retail space, with students attending weekly on a membership. Support for a Riyadh partner may include owner training and the Success Kit, help with the site and fit-out, tutor recruitment and online training, learning resources and a structured program, and launch and marketing support for a new centre, together with ongoing support from head office. The 14-day disclosure document and the franchise agreement are where those arrangements are set out.
Partners do not need teaching experience. A master franchise partner would also work with head office on licensing, Arabic-language materials, territory planning and recruiting partners across the Kingdom.
Frequently asked questions
How is franchising regulated in Saudi Arabia?
Saudi Arabia has a dedicated Franchise Law, issued in 2019 and in force since 2020. Among other things, the franchisor must give a disclosure document at least 14 days before the agreement is signed or any payment is made, with a certified Arabic translation where needed, and franchise agreements must be registered. Seek independent legal advice from a Saudi-qualified lawyer.
Would centres need separate sections for boys and girls?
Requirements for education centres, including staffing and premises, are set by the authorities and can change. A partner would confirm current licensing conditions with the Ministry of Education before opening.
Does Success Tutoring prepare students for Qudurat and Tahsili?
Not as a dedicated test-prep course. Success Tutoring offers steady weekly sessions from the primary years on general skills that tests such as Qudurat and Tahsili draw on.
