Jeddah has always looked outwards. For centuries it was the port through which pilgrims reached Makkah, and it remains Saudi Arabia's main commercial city on the Red Sea, with a trading culture, a mixed population and a long tradition of private schooling. For anyone considering a tutoring franchise in Jeddah, the city combines Saudi families focused on university entry with a large expatriate community and a growing appetite for structured learning outside school.
Success Tutoring has no centre in Jeddah. It is looking for franchise partners here, and a master franchise partner for Saudi Arabia, with territories drawn alongside partners.
How schooling works in Jeddah
Jeddah's schools follow the Ministry of Education's national curriculum, administered locally by the Jeddah education directorate. Government schools teach in Arabic, and under Vision 2030 English has been taught from Grade 1 since the 2021–2022 school year.
The city has one of the Kingdom's oldest and largest private school sectors. Long-established private Saudi schools offer the national curriculum with stronger English, while international schools teach British, American and IB programmes, along with Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and other community schools serving Jeddah's large expatriate population.
The key assessments, run by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (Etec), are:
- Nafes, national tests in the primary and intermediate grades.
- Qudurat, the General Aptitude Test of verbal and quantitative reasoning.
- Tahsili, the Scholastic Achievement Test of secondary maths and science.
Admission to King Abdulaziz University, the city's largest, and to universities across the Kingdom depends on school grades combined with Qudurat and Tahsili. KAUST, the graduate research university at Thuwal north of Jeddah, adds to the city's academic profile.
What drives demand in Jeddah
Private school families. A high share of Jeddah's children attend private schools, and parents who pay school fees are used to paying for extra support when results slip.
English across the curriculum. International school students need strong academic English, and Saudi families want English as a foundation for university, scholarships and careers in a diversifying economy.
Test pressure. Qudurat and Tahsili draw on years of maths and verbal reasoning. Parents who start early, in the intermediate grades, see the best results.
Tourism and investment growth. Jeddah sits at the centre of major Red Sea developments and events, bringing new jobs and new families to the city.
Districts with potential
No territories have been drawn in Saudi Arabia yet. Areas a Jeddah partner might discuss with head office include:
- North Jeddah, including Al Shati, Al Zahra, Al Naeem and Al Rawdah, established family districts with many private schools.
- Obhur and Al Shrouq, coastal northern areas where new villas and compounds are growing.
- Al Salamah, Al Basateen and Al Muhammadiyah, popular with Saudi families and close to schools and malls.
- Al Hamra and Al Andalus, central districts near the Corniche.
- East and south Jeddah, including Al Safa, Al Marwah and Al Sulaimaniyah, large neighbourhoods with many school-age children.
Jeddah stretches a long way along the coast, so territories would be drawn around real travel catchments rather than district names alone.
Partnering with Success Tutoring
Support for a Jeddah partner draws on a system developed in Australia and may include:
- Business systems, training for the owner and the Success Kit.
- Support finding a site in a mall or along a main road, plus the lease and fit-out.
- A tutor hiring process and online tutor training.
- Learning resources and a structured program.
- Help planning a local marketing campaign around opening.
- Ongoing support from the Success Tutoring team.
As Saudi law requires, the disclosure document and franchise agreement would describe that support in detail.
You do not need to have been a teacher. Many partners come from corporate and small-business careers; you can read about some of them in our franchise stories.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Jeddah centre serve both Saudi and international school students?
It can. Sessions are built around each student's level, and a partner would work with head office on how they relate to the Ministry curriculum and international programmes.
What does Saudi franchise law require?
The 2019 Franchise Law requires the franchisor to provide a disclosure document at least 14 days before signing or payment, and franchise agreements must be registered. A centre also needs a commercial registration and the relevant education approval. Seek independent legal advice from a Saudi-qualified lawyer.
Why consider Jeddah rather than Riyadh?
Both cities are part of Success Tutoring's plans for the Kingdom. Jeddah offers a large private school sector and a strong commercial culture, and partners can choose the market they know best.
Is a master franchise available for Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Success Tutoring would like to hear from candidates who could build the brand across the Kingdom with head office.
