Bhubaneswar is two cities at once. The old town is centred on the Lingaraj Temple and the ancient tanks of the "temple city", while the new capital of Odisha, planned after independence by the German architect Otto Koenigsberger, has grown into one of eastern India's fastest-rising education and technology centres. Within a short drive of the centre are IIT Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, NISER and two large private universities, KIIT and Siksha 'O' Anusandhan. Success Tutoring has announced India as an overseas market and is seeking franchise partners here. A tutoring franchise in Bhubaneswar would serve families who take schooling seriously but rarely find a structured, long-term option for younger children.

Bhubaneswar's schools and boards

Odisha runs its own school examinations:

  • The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE Odisha) conducts the Class 10 exam, still widely called the matric or HSC exam.
  • The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha (CHSE) conducts the +2 exams in arts, commerce and science at the end of Class 12.

Odia is the medium of instruction in most government schools, and English is increasingly the choice in private ones. Bhubaneswar also has an unusually dense cluster of CBSE schools, including several DAV Public Schools, SAI International School and many others, which are popular with the families of government officers, doctors, academics and IT staff who arrive from other states. ICSE schools and a handful of international schools complete the picture.

For students heading to engineering, medicine or other professional courses, the state's OJEE sits alongside JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET and CUET. Bhubaneswar has become a regional coaching destination for these exams, drawing teenagers from across Odisha.

Why tuition is part of family life here

In Bhubaneswar, a child's timetable often includes coaching in the evenings as well as school. The reasons are particular to the city:

  • An academic workforce. Families employed at the national institutes, hospitals and universities tend to expect high standards and plan their children's education years ahead.
  • Mobility between boards. Children moving from Odia-medium or state-board schools into CBSE or English-medium classrooms often need help catching up, especially with written English.
  • Entrance pressure arriving early. Because coaching for JEE and NEET is so visible in the city, many parents feel they must strengthen foundations well before Class 9.
  • Gaps in the younger years. Most of the organised coaching targets senior students. Primary and middle-school children are usually left to home tutors, with little reporting back to parents.

A membership centre with set weekly sessions, trained tutors and regular progress updates fills that gap without competing head-on with the entrance institutes.

Neighbourhoods to look at

The city has expanded quickly, helped by its selection as the top-ranked city in the first round of India's Smart Cities Mission in 2016. Areas where young families are concentrated include:

  • Patia, Chandrasekharpur and Infocity, in the north, where IT campuses, KIIT and new apartment towers have created a young, professional population.
  • Nayapalli, Jaydev Vihar and Saheed Nagar, established central suburbs with well-known schools and busy markets.
  • Khandagiri, Pokhariput and Kalinga Nagar, expanding southern and western neighbourhoods with more affordable housing for growing families.
  • Rasulgarh and the Cuttack road, linking Bhubaneswar to its twin city of Cuttack across the Mahanadi.
  • Old Town and Laxmisagar, closer-knit areas where long-settled families have their own school loyalties.

No territories have been drawn in Bhubaneswar yet. They are drawn with partners, using data on households, children and schools across the city.

Opening a Success Tutoring centre in Bhubaneswar

A partner follows the Success Kit, the documented system for running a centre. Success Tutoring may support partners with finding, leasing and fitting out premises, recruiting tutors and training them online, learning resources, launch marketing and ongoing marketing, along with head office support. The scope of that support is set out in the franchise agreement and disclosure documents.

Teaching experience is not required. The city's universities produce a steady supply of graduates and postgraduates who could tutor, and partners elsewhere have come from engineering, finance, corporate and small-business careers.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Bhubaneswar centre suit both BSE Odisha and CBSE students?

A centre can enrol children from different boards, because the work is based on each child's own learning needs. Parents should still check with the centre how its program fits their child's school.

Could one partner also cover Cuttack?

Cuttack is a separate city with its own schools and neighbourhoods. A partner interested in both should raise it with Success Tutoring, since territories are drawn individually and nothing is guaranteed in advance.

Is a Success Tutoring centre a JEE or NEET coaching institute?

No. Bhubaneswar already has many entrance-coaching providers. A Success Tutoring centre focuses on K-12 learning support for school students rather than entrance-exam coaching.

What legal checks apply to a franchise in Odisha?

India has no specific franchise disclosure law, so a franchise agreement falls under general law such as the Indian Contract Act 1872. It is also worth checking how Odisha applies the Ministry of Education's 2024 coaching centre guidelines. Seek independent legal advice before you sign.
