Ask anyone in India about coaching and they will mention Rajasthan. The town of Kota, on the banks of the Chambal, has spent decades as the country's most famous destination for students preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams. Yet the state's needs go well beyond that. A tutoring franchise in Rajasthan with Success Tutoring would serve a different family: parents of schoolchildren in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur or Ajmer who want steady, weekly help long before any entrance exam is on the horizon. India is one of the international markets Success Tutoring has announced, and Rajasthan is a state where it is looking for partners.

How schooling works in Rajasthan

The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE), based in Ajmer, sets the syllabus and runs the Class 10 Secondary and Class 12 Senior Secondary exams for the large majority of the state's students. Hindi is the main medium of instruction in most government schools, and many pupils speak Rajasthani dialects such as Marwari, Mewari or Dhundhari at home.

Alongside the state board sit:

  • CBSE schools, which dominate private education in Jaipur, Kota and Jodhpur, plus Kendriya Vidyalayas in cantonment and railway towns.
  • ICSE and ISC schools, including long-established convent schools in the larger cities.
  • Historic boarding schools such as Mayo College in Ajmer, founded in the 1870s, which give the state a tradition of residential education.
  • Mahatma Gandhi Government Schools, the state's English-medium government schools, which have opened across Rajasthan in recent years as demand for English-medium education has grown.

The National Education Policy 2020 is reshaping the school structure nationally, with its emphasis on foundational literacy and numeracy in the early years. For many Rajasthan families, the shift from Hindi-medium to English-medium schooling, sometimes in a single generation, is where support is needed most.

Kota and the cost of a coaching-only culture

Kota's coaching institutes draw teenagers from every corner of India to prepare for JEE and NEET. The town has hostels, mess halls and whole neighbourhoods built around the industry. It has also faced serious questions about student wellbeing, after a series of student suicides drew national attention.

The response has been regulatory. The Union Ministry of Education issued guidelines for coaching centres in January 2024, and in September 2025 the Rajasthan Assembly passed the Rajasthan Coaching Centres (Control and Regulation) Bill, which centres on registration and oversight of coaching institutes. Both were written with entrance coaching in mind, but anyone opening an education business in the state should understand them.

For a K-12 tutoring business, Kota's story points to a gap. Many families jump straight from school to high-pressure coaching at 15 or 16, with little structured support in the years before. A centre that builds confidence and study habits from the early grades fills that gap, and does it in the child's own neighbourhood rather than in a hostel far from home.

Where the opportunity lies across the state

No territories are drawn in Rajasthan yet. Success Tutoring outlines territories with partners, using local data on households, children and schools. Cities to consider:

  • Jaipur, the capital and largest city, with expanding family suburbs along Ajmer Road, Tonk Road and Jagatpura. See the Jaipur page.
  • Jodhpur, the main city of western Rajasthan, home to an IIT and AIIMS, which have brought academic and medical families to the city.
  • Udaipur, a tourism and mining centre in Mewar with a growing professional population and an IIM.
  • Ajmer, a city of schools and colleges where the state board and the Rajasthan Public Service Commission are based.
  • Kota itself, where resident families, not only visiting students, need support for younger children.
  • Bikaner, Alwar, Bhilwara, Sikar and Sri Ganganagar, regional centres where branded tutoring is still uncommon. Alwar and Bhiwadi also sit within reach of the National Capital Region's industrial belt.

What partners can expect from Success Tutoring

Success Tutoring was founded in Sydney in 2017 and has grown into a network of retail-style learning centres run by franchise partners. Support for a new partner may include help with site selection, leasing and fit-out; tutor recruitment and online training; learning resources and the operating system known as the Success Kit; and launch and ongoing marketing. What is actually provided is set out in the franchise agreement and disclosure documents, which you should read closely.

A teaching qualification is not required. Partners have come from engineering, finance, corporate management and small business. In Rajasthan, where family businesses are common, that background can be an advantage.

Frequently asked questions

Would a Success Tutoring centre compete with the Kota coaching institutes?

Not directly. Kota's institutes prepare older students for JEE and NEET. A Success Tutoring centre is a K-12 tutoring business for schoolchildren in their own community, built around regular weekly sessions rather than entrance coaching.

Does Rajasthan's 2025 coaching law apply to a tutoring centre?

It may, depending on how the final law and its rules define a coaching centre and on enrolment levels. The Bill and the 2024 central guidelines both focus on registration and student welfare. Ask a Rajasthan lawyer how they would apply to your centre before you commit.

Are Hindi-medium families part of the market?

Yes. Many Rajasthan families have children moving from Hindi-medium to English-medium or CBSE schools, and that transition is a common reason parents seek regular tutoring.

What law governs a franchise agreement in India?

India has no franchise-specific disclosure law. A franchise agreement is governed by general law, including the Indian Contract Act 1872, along with trade mark and consumer law. Seek independent legal advice before signing.
