Territory data last updated .
Twenty years ago, much of Alamo Ranch was ranchland west of Loop 1604. Today it is one of the busiest family corners of Bexar County, with rooftops stretching along Culebra Road, Potranco Road and State Highway 151 and a large shopping hub where Culebra meets the loop. For anyone weighing a tutoring franchise in Alamo Ranch, that history matters: the households here are relatively new, many have children in elementary and middle school, and the area is still building out. Success Tutoring launched its US operations in Texas, and the far west side is one of the San Antonio areas where territories are open on the map.
A district built for growth: Northside ISD
Almost every family in Alamo Ranch sends children to Northside ISD, one of the largest school districts in Texas by enrollment. On the far west side the district has opened campus after campus to keep pace with new subdivisions. High schools such as Brennan, Harlan and Sotomayor are among the newer additions serving this part of the county, and elementary schools in the area have often opened near capacity.
A few points shape what parents here expect:
- Rapid campus turnover. When a new school opens, attendance boundaries are redrawn and children may change campuses. Families notice the disruption and look for continuity outside school.
- State testing and accountability. Students sit STAAR reading and math tests from grade 3, and high schoolers must pass end-of-course exams to graduate. Texas has passed legislation to replace STAAR with shorter tests spread across the year from 2027–28, so parents will be learning a new system soon.
- Advanced math placement. A 2023 state law requires districts to place students who score in the top 40 percent on the grade 5 math STAAR into advanced math in grade 6, unless parents opt out. For many Alamo Ranch families, fifth grade has become a year to watch.
- Neighboring districts. Some of the newest subdivisions further out along Potranco Road fall in Medina Valley ISD, a district that has changed quickly from rural to suburban.
What families on the far west side want
The typical Alamo Ranch household is a young family that bought a newer home within reach of jobs across the city. Many parents commute east along Loop 1604 or Highway 151, so after-school hours are tight and a dependable weekly routine near home carries real value.
Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland sits a short drive southeast, and military and civilian base families are well represented on the west side. Children who arrive from another state partway through the year often need help adjusting to Texas standards and testing.
Spanish is spoken in many homes, and bilingual parents often want reinforcement in reading and writing so their children feel confident in class. Others simply want a calm, structured place where homework gets done and skills build steadily rather than in a rush before test season.
Neighborhoods covered by the current territories
The territories on this page are named after neighborhoods across the west side, and together they show how varied the area is:
- Summit at Alamo Ranch and Meadows at the Reserve sit among the newer master-planned subdivisions around the Alamo Ranch commercial core.
- Westover Crossing lies toward Highway 151 and the Westover Hills employment area near SeaWorld San Antonio, where offices and data centers have drawn workers to the west side.
- Great Northwest is an established community inside Loop 1604, with older homes, mature streets and long-running neighborhood schools.
- Coolcrest adds another west side neighborhood to the mix, so the territories span more than one stage of the area's development.
That combination of brand-new subdivisions and established neighborhoods gives a center a wider catchment than a single development could. Retail space is concentrated along Culebra Road, at the Loop 1604 interchanges and along Potranco Road, where grocery-anchored centers draw steady weekday traffic. The map and table on this page show each boundary along with residents, school-age children and schools.
Owning a Success Tutoring center here
A Success Tutoring center is a retail-style learning space where families join as members. As the owner, you run the business, hire and lead tutors, and build relationships with local families and schools. A background in education is not required, and many partners come from corporate, finance, engineering or small-business careers.
Support that may be provided includes help with site selection and leasing, fit-out, tutor recruitment and training through an online platform, learning resources, and launch and ongoing marketing, along with ongoing support from the head office team. What is provided is set out in the franchise agreement and disclosure documents, which you should review carefully.
Frequently asked questions
Is Alamo Ranch part of the City of San Antonio?
Parts of the far west side are inside San Antonio city limits and parts are unincorporated Bexar County, which can affect permits and signage rules. Check with the city or county for any site you are considering, and use the territory map rather than municipal lines to understand your area.
Which school district serves most Alamo Ranch families?
Northside ISD serves nearly all of Alamo Ranch, Great Northwest and the Westover area. Some newer subdivisions further west along Potranco Road are in Medina Valley ISD.
Does a center need to be right in Alamo Ranch to serve the area?
Not necessarily. Many families drive Culebra, Potranco and Loop 1604 every day, so a visible site on one of those corridors can reach several neighborhoods. Your territory boundary on the map is the guide.
How are franchises regulated in Texas?
The FTC Franchise Rule requires a franchisor to give you its Franchise Disclosure Document at least 14 days before you sign anything or pay. Texas is not a franchise registration state. Seek independent legal advice before you commit.
